FROM A DREAM TO THE KITCHEN
I had a dream that my husband and I were standing in our kitchen making candles. At the time, I knew absolutely nothing about candle making. But the dream stayed with me. I couldn't shake it.
A few days later, I ordered a candle-making kit, picked up a few stemless wine glasses from the Dollar Tree, and came home to see what would happen. Using the lemongrass and mint fragrance oils that came with the kit, I poured my very first candle.
I didn't know it then, but something much bigger than a candle had just begun.
THE CALL THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING
The next morning, before I had even burned the candle myself, I took one to a friend who owned a boutique.
A few hours later, she called me.
“Charlotte, every single person who has come into my shop today has asked what I was burning and where they could get it.”
Then she said the words I will never forget:
If you decide to make this a business, I want to be your first customer.
“I had made something with my own hands and someone else saw something in it, too.”
AND THEN CAME THE BUTTERFLY
What started as a dream in my kitchen was beginning to feel like it could become something more.
When I told my husband what had happened at the boutique, he encouraged me to turn the idea into a business. But every business needs a name.
The answer had been in front of me all along.
A butterfly was already part of the logo for my other company, MetaMatch. I had always loved what the butterfly represented—transformation, beauty and becoming.
The Butterfly Candle was born.
What I didn't know then was just how fitting that name would become. Because this company—and the woman building it—were both still becoming.
MORE THAN A CANDLE
A candle can make a room smell beautiful.
But we believe it can do something more.
Scent has a remarkable way of taking us somewhere—to a kitchen filled with something delicious, a quiet evening at home, a holiday surrounded by family, or a memory we didn't even realize we were holding onto.
That is what we create at The Butterfly Candle Company.
Our fragrances are thoughtfully blended to create more than a scent. They create an experience.
Because sometimes you aren't simply lighting a candle.

You're celebrating.
You're creating a new memory.
THE DREAM IS STILL BECOMING
What began with a candle-making kit, a few stemless wine glasses and a dream has become something I could not have fully imagined that day in my kitchen.
The Butterfly Candle Company is still rooted in the same thing that started it all: creating something beautiful that makes people feel something.
Today, we hand-pour our candles using a beeswax and coconut wax blend and thoughtfully create fragrances inspired by the moments that make a house feel like home—the holidays we remember, the people we love, the quiet moments we need and the stories we never want to forget.
But the dream has grown beyond the candle.
We are building a lifestyle brand centered around home, fragrance, beauty, tradition and meaningful experiences—pieces designed not simply to be purchased, but to become part of your story.
And perhaps that is why the butterfly was always the perfect symbol.
Because becoming doesn't happen all at once.
We are still becoming.
And the dream is still unfolding.
